The opportunity provided by construction of the light rail network (a clean and economic form of transportation) was taken to rethink how pedestrians, cyclists and cars can move around the city. The solutions implemented included a downtown pedestrian zone with no catenary, fully equipped cycle paths and park-and-ride facilities giving motorists easy access to the mass transit system.
